Union Minister of State for Health, Anupriya Patel has said that the government is committed to control Hepatitis by increasing the coverage of vaccination. Addressing the World Hepatitis Day 2016 Symposium by the World Health Organization and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, in Mumbai yesterday. The minister said that due to lack of awareness about Hepatitis, the number of people getting affected with the decease are rising.
Assuring government support to control the decease, Ms.Patel said that the government would leave no stone unturned to fight against Hepatitis. She added that efforts would be made to minimise transmission of Hepatitis through blood transfusion.
She also said that the government plans to vaccinate all the children by 2020. She also stated that the government is serious about increasing its budget towards health sector. Superstar Amitabh Bachchan and officials from WHO were present on the occasion.
